Home visits in Kelvingrove

What a home visit in Kelvingrove typically looks like.

Kelvingrove takes its name from the park at its centre, with Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum at its south-western corner and the Park District's townhouses on the hill above. One of Glasgow's best-loved parks is on your doorstep, which makes it a natural next step in rehab once you're ready to walk outside.

Homes in Kelvingrove

Homes range from the Victorian townhouses of Park Circus and Park Terrace, some returning to residential use after years as offices, to sandstone tenements along Argyle Street and towards Yorkhill and Finnieston. Townhouse flats often mean a long stone stair and steps up to the front door. Inside, we tackle whatever gets in the way, from a low sofa to a step into the bathroom, and plan a safe route from your door to the park.

Getting out and about

Kelvinhall subway station is on the western side of the park and Kelvinbridge on the northern side, with Exhibition Centre and Charing Cross rail stations to the south and south-east. The park suits every stage of recovery: the paths along the River Kelvin are fairly flat, while the climb up to Park Circus is a real test of strength and stamina. On wet days, the Art Gallery and Museum, which is free to enter, is good for indoor walking practice.

Working alongside your GP and NHS team

The West Glasgow Ambulatory Care Hospital at Yorkhill has now closed, and many of its clinics have moved to Gartnavel General Hospital on Great Western Road. Emergency care and major surgery are usually at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Govan. If your appointments are now further from home, physiotherapy that comes to you is one less journey to plan. No GP referral is needed.
