Still have a question?

Ask Nasir directly — no receptionist.

Which areas do you cover?

The whole of Glasgow's West End — Hillhead, Dowanhill, Hyndland, Partick, Partickhill, Kelvinside, Kelvindale, Broomhill, Kelvingrove, Woodlands, Woodside, North Kelvinside, Kelvinbridge, and around the University of Glasgow / Gilmorehill (postcodes G11, G12, G3, G4 and G20). If you live just outside the West End, call and ask — we will tell you honestly whether we can visit.

How quickly can I be seen?

Urgent appointments are available within 48 hours. Most new clients are seen within the same week — call or WhatsApp 07393 312 774 and your enquiry goes straight to Nasir, not a call centre.

What are your visiting hours?

Monday to Friday 4:00pm – 8:00pm, and Saturday & Sunday 9:00am – 5:00pm. Evening and weekend visits make it easy to fit physiotherapy around work and family.

Do I need a GP referral?

No. You can refer yourself (or a family member) directly — no GP or consultant letter is needed. If you do have hospital discharge notes or a surgeon's protocol, have them ready for the first visit.

How long is an appointment?

Your home physiotherapy appointment lasts 45 to 60 minutes. That includes assessment, hands-on treatment, exercise coaching and a written take-home plan.

What happens at the first appointment?

A brief phone/video triage first; then a home visit covering your history, medications, physical assessment, hands-on treatment where appropriate, and a tailored exercise programme. You'll finish the visit with a clear plan.

Is your physiotherapist registered?

Yes. Nasir Shaikh is registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC registration PH79584) — the legal register every UK physiotherapist must be on — and is a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (MCSP), the professional body for physiotherapists. You can check his registration on the HCPC website at hcpc-uk.org. He has 14+ years of NHS hospital and domiciliary experience.

What conditions do you treat?

Stroke; hip and knee replacements; fractures; falls; back and neck pain; sciatica; shoulder and knee pain; post-op orthopaedic rehab; general deconditioning; Parkinson's; MS; respiratory conditions including COPD; sports injuries; and musculoskeletal pain of all kinds.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on your condition, how long you have had it and your goals, so we can't promise a fixed number. After your first assessment Nasir will give you an honest estimate, and your plan is reviewed at every visit. There are no pre-paid blocks — you book one visit at a time.

Is home physiotherapy as effective as going to a clinic?

It can be a good alternative, especially if travelling is difficult. Treatment happens where you actually need to move — your stairs, bathroom, kitchen and front step — so exercises fit real life, there's no tiring journey after surgery or a stroke, and family can learn how to help between visits. If you need equipment only a clinic or gym has, Nasir will tell you.

How do I pay?

Bank transfer or cash, due at the time of the appointment. Receipts can be issued for your private medical insurance claim.

Do I need a family member there?

No — but it's often helpful, especially for the first visit after a hospital discharge or stroke, so family can learn how to safely support exercises between sessions.

What should I prepare before the first visit?

A list of your current medications, any hospital discharge letters or surgical protocol, comfortable clothing you can move in, and a little clear floor space. If you use a walking aid, keep it nearby.

Do you visit care homes and sheltered housing?

Yes. We provide one-off or regular physiotherapy in care homes and sheltered accommodation — resident assessments, falls and mobility work, and moving-and-handling guidance for staff.

Do you treat sports injuries?

Yes. Nasir holds an MSc in Advanced Sports Therapy & Rehabilitation and has worked as a pitch-side physiotherapist for Ponteland RFC and Whitley Bay RFC — so muscle, ligament and joint injuries are treated with return-to-sport in mind.

Ready to get moving again?

A short call is often all it takes to know whether a home visit will help. No referral needed, no pressure.
