Home visits in Partick

What a home visit in Partick typically looks like.

Partick is a busy, close-knit part of the West End, stretching from the Clyde up towards Byres Road and Crow Road, with Dumbarton Road running through the middle. Long-standing residents, families and young professionals live side by side, and we visit right across it, from Thornwood to Partick Cross and down to the river.

Homes in Partick

Red and blond sandstone tenements line Dumbarton Road and the streets behind it, most with a common close, a stone stair and no lift. By the river, the Glasgow Harbour flats and other newer blocks have lifts, and there are many housing association homes too. In a tenement, a visit often focuses on the stair and the heavy close door; in a modern flat it might be a level-access shower, or getting out to the riverside safely.

Getting out and about

Partick station is the main interchange, where trains, the subway and buses meet, and Kelvinhall subway station is towards the eastern end of Dumbarton Road, which is the main bus corridor along with Crow Road. Mansfield Park on Hyndland Street is a handy green space, and the flat quayside by the Riverside Museum suits longer walks. Since 2024, the Govan–Partick Bridge has linked Pointhouse Quay with Govan on foot.

Working alongside your GP and NHS team

The Queen Elizabeth University Hospital is just across the Clyde in Govan, and Gartnavel General Hospital is a short trip north. People often come home after surgery, a stroke or a fall with an NHS plan in place; home physiotherapy adds more frequent, one-to-one sessions alongside it. No GP referral is needed, and we're glad to liaise with your GP practice or community rehabilitation team.
