Home physiotherapy in Kelvinside, Glasgow

Grand Kelvinside villas and generous rooms give us plenty of space to work on balance, transfers and gait training with elderly clients.

Home visits in Kelvinside

What a home visit in Kelvinside typically looks like.

Kelvinside lines Great Western Road west of the Botanic Gardens and reaches north towards Kirklee and Kelvinside Academy. Known for large Victorian villas and grand terraces, its homes tend to be spacious, which suits physiotherapy well, though there's often more house and garden to get around, and more steps in between.

Homes in Kelvinside

Villas and terraced townhouses, such as Alexander 'Greek' Thomson's Great Western Terrace, are typical. Some villas are now flats; others remain family homes over several floors, with garden steps or a lower ground floor. Generous rooms give us space for balance work, sit-to-stand practice, walking with or without an aid, and safe transfers in and out of bed and chairs. We also check the routes you use every day: the main stair, the garden steps and the path to the car or the gate.

Getting out and about

Great Western Road is the main route, with buses towards the city centre and Anniesland. Hyndland station and Hillhead subway station are the closest stops, and Anniesland station, step-free since lifts were added in 2024, is further west. In the Botanic Gardens, gentler paths around the glasshouses and steeper ones down towards the River Kelvin let us match the walking route to your stage of recovery.

Working alongside your GP and NHS team

Gartnavel General Hospital is just along Great Western Road, with the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre on the same campus. Physiotherapy can help people keep up their strength during and after cancer treatment, in line with the oncology team's advice. After a stroke or an emergency, many people are treated at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Govan. We add regular one-to-one sessions at home rather than replacing your NHS team.
